Why Jordin will (or at least should) win

Jordin Sparks is the likely winner of this season of “American Idol.”
A lot of people thought the finale would put Melinda and Jordin against one another. That’s the way I thought it would fall. But America had a different plan.
After thinking about the trends of past seasons and further analyzing this year’s competition, I feel confident Jordin Sparks will be named the Season 6 “American Idol” winner. Here’s why:
Jordin, much like Kelly Clarkson, was sort of another face in the crowd at the very beginning of the season. Throughout Hollywood week and on into the next several weeks, she progressed. Each week she was better than the week before. Each week her star shined a little brighter. And now, as the finale approaches, it only makes sense America would vote for Jordin.
When it was down to the final four, Blake gained a lot of momentum because he was the only guy left in the competition. He picked up the Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey votes. Why? Because he’s more like them.
The same will be true for Jordin. After LaKisha left, most of her votes likely were split between Jordin and Melinda. Make sense? If so, that means a majority of Melinda’s votes likely will go to Jordin, who clearly has been leading the pack, anyway.
For those of you shocked about Melinda’s departure, I’ll say this theory may have something to do with it. Or maybe not. Who really can explain how Ruben Studdard beat Clay Aiken. Seriously, there’s not an “Idol” winner or contestant out there with more fans than Clay Aiken. Have you heard of the “CarrieMates”? Didn’t think so. But Claymates are all over the world.
It’s not completely unlikely for Blake to win this thing, though. Here’s why:
Blake does come to the competition from a different perspective. He’s the first to do what he does on the show. Jordin is not, though she does stand above many of those who have come before her.
Blake’s other bonus is that many people may think, “Jordin’s only 17. She’s going to make it, anyway. Let’s vote for Blake.”
I still think the title is all Jordin. She deserves it for the tremendous growth she’s shown. And I’ve never seen anyone sing more passionately than she does with her version of “I Who Have Nothing,” my favorite from this season.
Now, America, prove me right. I need the street cred.

Have you ever heard of the CarrieBears (not
CarrieMates)?
Next: Ruben was and is the better singer and the better package than Clay, so I wonder why you wonder about Ruben’s win. I saw the best winning, so what’s the problem?

I’m hoping too, that Jordin wins the title of AI, but for different reasons than you, Mr.Dunn.
I would hate to see Blake win, and be subjected to the 3-5 ? years long contract restrictions, that AI will put on him. Therefore, let him go via the Clay Aiken route, and take second place. He is more marketable, and there would be more of a demand for his ’style’ than Jordins. I want to see Blake make all the money he deserves, so I’m crossing my fingers that Jordin wins it. lol
Oh, and Who’s Ruben????? lol lol
Claymate Martigyrl

No. Reed made his point.

Just so everyone is clear, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose “Idol.” All of the top finalists are restricted by a contract they sign, which allows 19 Entertainment to have a piece of their career. So, Martigyrl, just so you know, Blake will be sharing the fortunes of his success either way. I can spell out the specifics of how it works, if you want. Thanks for reading.

Oh wow, that is such a disappointment. Melinda is an awesome singer and to be kicked off in favour of Blake is a shame. He couldn’t touch her with a 10 foot pole in terms of sheer talent.

Thanks Reed, for letting me know. I thought that only the winners were subjected to a long term contract, unless it is done ie.. AI2, in which both Ruben and Clay garnered a contract, due to the ‘closeness’ of the voting results?
I will believe what you say, as you’re closer to the facts, more than I. I’m just a fan. Actually, a bona fide Claymate first, fan of AI second.
I still believe that Blake is the most feasible contestant to bring in the money from future CD sales, over Melinda, and Jordin.
IF he runs his career in the right way.
I’m not saying the girls won’t be profitable, but I think Blake will outsell them. I think if Carrie hadn’t stayed Country, and ventured into Pop mainstream, she too would have had a hard time making the big dollars. I’m so glad she stayed in her comfort zone.

The Producers of this show acted in their own self interest this week. Fearing the selection of another aged (Melinda turns 30 soon) Idol and recognizing the dimsal sales Hicks has produced with his first CD since Idol, it was obvious to the Producers that they could not risk a potential “slip and fall” by by Jordin, thus automatically awarding the title to Melinda. Blake had to be the backup for Jordin, who now will most undoubtedly be the winner.
The tell-tale signs were already in place the night of the three-way competition. The Producers gave a Maroon 5 song choice to Blake. Maroon 5 just “happens” the perform the next night. They give Jordin an unproblematic Donna Summer song to perform; which she did only in a perfunctory manner, and they gave Meilnda one of the most obscure Ike and Tina Turner songs; a song so old, it’s called an Ike and Tina Turner song.
Melinda took that song to task, as she has all season (You will recall Randy Jackson never used the word “pitchy” for any of her performances).
If you are looking for true talent, if you are looking for true showmanship, as demonstrated by Melinda’s homage to the background singers with her final performance; you would have chosen Melinda, then Blake.
But the Producers are interested in money, not talent. I suppose that’s notihing new. If talent were important in entertainment, Gene Hackman, Christopher Walken and Robert Duvall would have more than a dozen Oscars between them.
