Who’s your daddy? Clay Aiken, perhaps

Clay Aiken apparently is going to be a dad. And I think we all can say nobody saw this one coming. (Right now Kathy Griffin is thinking her job just got a little bit easier.)

According to reports from TMZ.com, which sites multiple sources, the American Idol Season 2 runner-up is expected to become a father in August. The site says Jaymes Foster, the 50-year-old executive producer of Aiken’s latest album, On My Way Here, is the mother.

TMZ also reports Foster was artificially inseminated, though Aiken is expected to play an active role in fathering the child. According to the report, Aiken has made Foster’s home his own when he has been in Los Angeles.

Aiken’s sexuality has been in question since he was on Idol, which has fueled the interest of this story. Of course, this report also doesn’t prove much of anything on that front, either. It doesn’t much matter, anyway, because it’s just a little bizarre to think of Clay Aiken being a father. Sorry, Ashlee Simpson … your “I’m about to be a parent” headlines just got stolen.
