Taylor Hicks: A short review
I must admit Taylor Hicks had some convincing to do. I had not seen a live show, and I wasn’t sure what to think.
When Taylor took the stage Friday night at Cypress Bayou Casino in Charenton, I was among a group of his biggest supporters. They all were there — the young, the old and those who follow him from show to show.
Taylor played a solid hour of songs from his debut CD, a couple of jazz pieces and he even threw in some Cajun-style flavor for the local crowd. If one thing is true, it’s the fact Taylor Hicks is much more talented than he appeared to be during his season of “American Idol.” He is, in fact, a great entertainer. And the silly dance moves were kept to a minimum.
The best part of the night, though, was sitting next to some of the biggest devotees of the singer. They certainly are leading the Soul Patrol pack. And that gave me an idea — profiling the biggest fans of “Idol” contestants.
So, that’s what I’m doing. Later this week, you’ll meet Shannon, one of the biggest Taylor Hicks fans out there. If you or someone you know is a huge fan of any “Idol” contestant, let me know. I’m going to try and regularly feature you, the fans, as a way to better connect the “Idol” audience.
Until next time, check out Taylor Hicks when he comes near your hometown. It’s well worth it.
