Tamyra Gray hired for ‘Rent’

Season 1 “American Idol” finalist Tamyra Gray will appear in “Rent” on Broadway beginning May 29.
She become more known for her acting than singing after becoming a Season 1 “American Idol” finalist, and now Tamyra Gray is combine her acting and singing talents for her second Broadway show.
Gray will portray Mimi starting May 29 in “Rent” at the Nederlander Theatre in New York. This comes after the singer and actress made her Broadway stage debut in “Bombay Dreams.” She also has appeared on the small screen in a number of shows, including the recurring part of Aisha Clemens on “Boston Public.” She also has had guest roles on “Half & Half,” “Tru Calling,” “What I Like About You” and “Las Vegas.”
