Paula: No more solo reality show
If you had planned on seeing more of Paula Abdul’s wacky antics, you can stop holding your breath. It’s not happening — at least not on a second season of “Hey, Paula.”
“That was hard for me to watch,” the “American Idol” judge told USA Today. “They’d put a camera on me when I got wind that my dog was in a coma, and they’d make it (seem) like it was about hair and makeup.”
The “Idol” judge known for her softness and kind heart toward contestants said there were several scenes in her reality series where she comes off as a “demanding diva.” Maybe she was talking about the white shoes vs. black shoes breakdown outside the limo.
Abdul plans to focus her attention on her cosmetic and perfume line, which we all got a whiff of during one episode of “Hey, Paula,” where the former pop star got a little wacky — she blamed lack of sleep, you may recall — and started sniffing and acting more bizarre than usual. She also told USA Today she plans to stay on track with becoming more critical when it comes to “Idol.”
“Last season was a real turning of the corner for me, because I made a conscious decision to be very honest (with ‘Idol’ contestants),” she said. “There was a change because I saw the talent falling a little bit.”
But, even though she doesn’t have plans for a second installment of “Hey, Paula,” she does have plans for a child or two. Abdul has been dating JT Torregiani, a restauranteur, since April, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be the father of the expected children.
“That’s the next step in my life,” she told USA Today of having children. ” … I thought by now I’d have three grown children.”
Abdul said if she doesn’t get pregnant “naturally,” she would consider adopting.
