Odds on the final four

Blake Lewis is the only male contestant left in the competition, which is sure to help gain him at least a few votes.

Barry Gibb joins three girls and a guy this week as “American Idol” gets seriously close to naming it’s sixth winner. The performances at 8/7c Tuesday definitely are going to be important for the final four. There is no room for mistakes at this point.

Here’s a breakdown of who’s left.

Melinda Doolittle
She hasn’t faltered yet this season. Week after week, there’s been little doubt she would be safe. Her performances have been strong — she certainly is the best singer and most consistent performer — but she has made a few mistakes in the looks department. Of course, no matter what happens, this former background singer will be drawing crowds as a headlining name.

Blake Lewis
He’s the only guy left in the competition, and that certainly will help Blake get a few more votes. Those who favored Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson may now shift their votes to Blake. The resident beat boxer certainly brings something special to this season of “Idol.” He’s not a traditional pop star, but I’m not sure that’s such a bad thing.

LaKisha Jones
She was the earliest favorite, but lost her power somehow after the first week of the finals. Last week, the LaKisha that actually could win the competition returned. Her strong vocals and a great story — she’s the everyday woman who works at a bank — certainly have helped her out up to this point.

Jordin Sparks
She’s sort of the Kelly Clarkson of the season. She didn’t necessarily stand out early on — some people may not even remember her from the early weeks — but she’s grown and gotten better week after week. Jordin is a powerhouse, especially as a teenager. Her age could be a blessing or a curse “She has plenty of time to make it,” some might say.

So, who will win this season? Honestly, it really could be any of the final four. Who should win? Based on the season as a whole, the finale should put Jordin and Melinda in competition.

The next to go? I’d say LaKisha. Sure she had a strong return last week, but I think there will be enough fans of the male singers to keep Blake alive at least one more week.

It’s not all about me, though. What do you think? Who should be the next to go? Who will win?

Out of the four left, I would prefer either Lakisha or Jordin to win. I agree with you that Lakisha will probably go home this week although she has been one of my favorites ever since her Jennifer Holiday rendition.
