Notes on a scandal
By now everyone has heard about the Antonella Barba scandal. Chances are, in the last week, you’ve typed “Antonella Barba” in a Google search. Maybe you’ve typed more.
Tonight the semifinalist takes the stage for the first time since friends allegedly released photos of her in not-so-appropriate poses to several sites on the Internet. Many of those photos are of Barba posing in a wet T-shirt and little else for a calendar she allegedly made for her boyfriend.
Some of the other photos, specifically those involving a certain sex act, have been called into question. Are they all really her?
The bigger question today is how will “Idol” address the scandal tonight? Or will they address it at all?
These are the scenarios and their chances, if you ask me:
1. Antonella will be dismissed from the show, and the only mention will be quite vague. Odds: 1:1,000,000 (If she was going to get dismissed, we would have heard about it by now.)
2. Antonella will sing, there will be a mention of it — i.e. Ryan and/or the judges will say, “It’s been a tough week for you.” — and her fate will be in America’s hands. Odds: 1:2
3. Antonella will appear in next-to-nothing on stage to prove that’s just who she is. Odds: 1:NEVER. It sure would make for good TV, though.
But what do you think? I guess we’ll all tune in tonight to find out.

Someone must have threatened to fire Ryan Seacrest, because he was really on his best behavior last night. And Simon? He didn’t even smirk. I’m so surprised.
