‘No’ to Michael Jackson

“American Idol” is the stuff rumors are made of — at least when it comes to guest stars, alleged love affairs and all the other juicy gossip people love to read.

So, here’s another rumor that’s just not true. Michael Jackson had been said to be a possible mentor on this season’s show. That meant contestants would sing his hits during one of the upcoming weeks. Well … according to Raymone Bain, one of Jackson’s representatives who spoke to “Access Hollywood,” “There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Michael Jackson is going to appear on ‘American Idol.’”

“Idol” executive Nigel Lythgoe also said it’s not happening. “It’s not true. It’s just not true. We won’t be seeing him.”

Maybe instead, contestants will sing Janet’s hits. Or Jermaine. LaToya? OK, I’ll stop.
