No ‘Home’ concert for David Archuleta

Jeff Archuleta strikes, again. And American Idol executives aren’t having it.

The father of Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta had planned a big, fat benefit concert tomorrow night to thank fans in Utah who supported his 17-year-old son on his run to be the next big thing in pop music. But, as with most things the older Archuleta has had his hands in this season, he didn’t go through proper channels.

As a result, Idol execs say the show is a no-go. What does it take for people to understand Idol practically owns these contestants until a year or so after their appearance on the show.

Jeff Archuleta still is leading fans to believe “Back Home With David Archuleta,” the show’s planned title, is not being called off for good. Just for now.
“They’re just going to reschedule the event for a later time,” Jeff Archuleta told the Salt Lake Tribune. “When all the minds met, everyone concluded this wouldn’t work out for this particular weekend, and they just want to reschedule it for toward the middle or the end of the [American Idols Live! summer] tour.”

Um, yeah. I’m pretty sure that’s exactly how it all is going to go down.
