More awards for Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood performs earlier this year at the CMT awards. Underwood has been praised for her work on many country music awards shows, including this week’s Academy of Country Music Awards, since her time on “Idol.”
“American Idol” has changed country music. The proof seems to come every time there’s another awards show.
Tonight, the 42nd Academy of Country Music Awards aired on CBS, and no less than three “Idol” alums made an appearance.
Kelly Clarkson teamed up with host and hero Reba McEntire for a duet of the original “Idol” winner’s hit “Because of You.”
Then there’s Carrie Underwood. The Season 4 winner was nominated for several awards and took home the statuettes for Video of the Year (”Before He Cheats”) and Album of the Year (”Some Hearts”). Underwood also won the Top Female Vocalist award. During her acceptance speech, she gave a shout-out to “the place that started it all, ‘American Idol.’”
“I would not be here if it were not for ‘American Idol,’” she said.
Kellie Pickler also was nominated in the category for Best New Female Vocalist. Miranda Lambert won that award.
