Mariah Carey to judge ‘American Idol’ finalists
While it’s going to be a repeat week as far as the theme is concerned, American Idol may have one special surprise in store for contestants this week — Mariah Carey.
The pop diva is reportedly going to be a guest judge this week, as the Top 11 finalists take on round two of the John Lennon-Paul McCartney songbook. Carey, who performed on Saturday Night Live this weekend, was rumored to be a guest on the show earlier this year. She has worked with judge Randy Jackson — or, Randy Jackson has worked with her, you might say — and he said the singer had been open to the idea.
Luckily for the contestants, this week they’ll be singing more Lennon-McCartney songs. Because if they had to take on the Mariah Carey songbook, it would be an even bigger disaster. Can you imagine Amanda Overmyer struggling through a version of Fantasy? Or Michael Johns trying to sing anything from Music Box?
