Kris Allen wins record-breaking ‘Idol’ season

by

kris_win1After nearly 100 million votes were cast, a shocked Kris Allen became the eighth person to win the American Idol title.

An underdog throughout the season, Kris rose to the challenge week after week, eventually beating out finalist Adam Lambert for the title, which comes with a guaranteed recording contract and many other perks. Adam, who many (myself included) expected to win for weeks, also likely will enter a recording contract under his contract with 19 Entertainment.

Kris, a native of Conway, Ark., was a college student when he entered the competition. His audition at Churchill Downs included him telling the judges there likely would be better singers in the contest. That modesty certainly played a key factor in the winner’s likability factor, pushing him to the record-breaking victory.

Even during his closing comments, before performing No Boundaries for the first time as the crowned Idol, Kris said the prize should have gone to Adam. But America saw it in a different way.

While many people already are questioning the truth of this outcome — the most surprising in the history of the show, perhaps — there really is no doubt both Kris and Adam will do quite well in the industry.

The two-hour plus finale was packed with many surprises and big moments, including judge Kara DioGuardi revealing her true singing talent — and her body in a bikini. Celebrity guest appearances were abundant, and I think we can safely say we all were excited about the return of Norman Gentle. Thanks, Nick Norman. You truly have been a highlight for Season 8.

Comeon…Kris was good.. but this was a real travesty.. It was obvious to everyone, who should have won.. Adam was out of everyone’s league.. in any season.. He was the best thing ‘Idol’ ever had.. EVER!! It is an embarrassment to the show.. The show has no credibility after this season.. There should be a way that the judges..(voices of reason) could over-ride an decision obviously based on another agenda..one other than talent.. The truth is, Danny was better than Kris.. Adam was in another league..Kris was like many others.. I will not watch Idol again.. It’s not that I’m such a huge fan of Adam’s,but a fact is a fact.. I thought this was going to be a show based on talent..real special talent.. Guess I was wrong.. and, until someone can override an obviously wrong choice.. based on other agendas, but talent.. The show is irrelavant.. and fake.
