Kellie Pickler tests her smarts

Kellie Pickler may have come across as one of the, er, less intelligent contestants on American Idol. But now her smarts really are going to be put to the test.

Pickler, a Season 5 Idol finalist, is appearing on FOX’s hit game show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? with host Jeff Foxworthy. The singer, who recently was nominated for the Horizon Award and performed at the 41st Annual CMA Awards, has filmed the episode, which airs at 8/7c Thursday. Pickler will try to answer as many questions in elementary school categories to try and earn as much as $1 million for charity.

Aside from Thursday’s airing of Fifth Grader, Pickler also will appear Sunday at the 35th Annual American Music Awards as a presenter. The ceremony, hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel, will be broadcast live at 8/7c Sunday on ABC.
