Just how rich is Simon Cowell?

scowell1.jpgAccording to an interview with Anderson Cooper for “60 Minutes,” Simon Cowell is even more wealthy than you thought.

The judge everyone loves to pretend to hate said he was worth a lot more than Bruce Springsteen, the Sony BMG artist who recently signed into a contract with the label that’s thought to be in the neighborhood of $100 million. So, is Simon really worth more than that?

“I sell more records than Bruce Springsteen,” Cowell said during the interview, which aired tonight. “In the last five years, I’ve probably sold over 100 million records. If (Springsteen) got 100 (million dollars), I should have got 500.”

“By doing ‘Idol’…I signed the biggest artist on the planet and it’s called ‘Idol’ because every single ‘Idol’ winner is now signed through Sony BMG,” Cowell went on to say. “And this applies to…all the countries…we sell ‘Idol’ to, which is over 30 countries.”

Well, if he really has that much money, you’d think he would fill his closet with a few more options than those signature black t-shirts.
