Jennifer Hudson’s next big role

Jennifer Hudson played Effie White in “Dreamgirls.”

Carrie Bradshaw may not have had an assistant during the HBO run of “Sex and the City.” But, then again, Jennifer Hudson didn’t have an Oscar at that time, either.

Hudson, who gained Hollywood’s respect by playing Effie White in “Dreamgirls,” is going to be back on the big screen playing the assistant of Sarah Jessica Parker’s starring character. Filming on the big-screen version of “Sex” is set to begin Sept. 19.
