Jennifer Hudson honors Michael Jackson at memorial

A pregnant Jennifer Hudson, dressed in white, took center stage Tuesday at the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The former American Idol contestant and Academy Award-winning actress and singer performed Jackson’s Will You Be There, the theme from Free Willy. Hudson’s knockout performance is being referenced as one of the standouts from the two-hour public remembrance and celebration of the King of Pop’s life.

Hudson’s gospel-inspired performance was accompanied by background singers who formed a circle around her. The performance ended with Jackson’s tear-filled voice reciting the lyrics from the song. Hudson then proclaimed, “We love you, Michael,” before exiting the stage.
