‘Idol’ closes on Broadway

After becoming a hit TV show, you might think “American Idol” could do anything. Well, apparently Broadway isn’t having it.

“Idol: The Musical,” the stage show based on the reality series previewed in July. By the end of that month, the entire cast had been replaced for a second run. Still, it didn’t work.

“Due to a lack of advance ticket sales, a lack of positive feedback from audience members and critics and a lack of sustainable financial resources” the show is closing, producer Todd Ellis said in a statement.

I guess you’ll just have to wait for Season 7.
