How to spend $2,900 this summer

Summer camp used to be about making keychains and horseback riding.
Not anymore. Idol Camp, the performing arts camp based on “American Idol,” launches this summer. Organizers announced today guests at the camp will include several past “Idol” contestants.
Bucky Covington, who will release his debut CD on Tuesday, and Kimberley Locke will teach master classes for the child in attendance. Also set to make appearances are Vonzell Solomon, Jon Peter Lewis and Carmen Rasmusen. Other guests are expected to be announced soon.
The deadline to enroll for Idol Camp — only 12- to 15-year-olds need apply — is Wednesday, April 18. The first of four camps begins July 7 in Northfield, Mass. Cost for the 10-day camps is $2,900. Find out more at www.idolcamp.com.
