Homecoming parade for Gina

Gina Glocksen wipes away tears after learning she would be leaving “American Idol.”
You may still think she was cheated, but Gina Glocksen certainly has plenty of fans to carry her career a little past “Idol.”
The 22-year-old Naperville, Ill., native returns home Tuesday. Plans are underway for her city to have a parade in her honor on Wednesday, when she also will be given a key to her hometown. The Chicago suburb has been behind the singer all season.
Glocksen, the show’s resident rocker, got booted from the show last week after performing “Smile.”
“I think [viewers] focused on my signing talent and the song choices. And if that was the reason why they didn’t follow through with voting for me, then I’m OK with that, because I was just continuing to be myself,” Glocksen told reporters Thursday at a conference call. “I think my fans in America knew that this was going to be a tough week for me.”
“Idol” returns Tuesday when pop diva Jennifer Lopez mentors the top eight contestants. The finalists will perform Latin songs.
