From 6 to 4: Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson go home
“Idol Gives Back” lives on with a space-filling recap of last week’s charity push. Then, Robin Thicke, son of actor Alan Thicke, took the stage to provide one of the best guest performances this year. Then more filler and another Ford commercial.
Finally, on to the results.
Up first, Melinda, Phil and LaKisha.
Melinda Doolittle is up first. After more than 135 million combined votes from the last two weeks, “America has spoken and said that Melinda, you’re safe,” Ryan said. No surprise there.
On to Phil Stacey. And LaKisha Jones. “After that huge vote, LaKisha, you are safe,” Ryan said.
“Phil leaves us tonight on ‘American Idol,’” Ryan continued. “Phil Stacey, friends.”

After a few great weeks in a row, Phil Stacey was sent home in the eighth week of finals.
The back row — Jordin, Blake and Chris — are called to stand. And, after a little scare last week, Jordin Sparks immediately was allowed to sit down. Thanks, Ryan. Because, even though a lot of people thought Jordin blew it last night, I still think she’s a top contender.
That leaves us with Blake and Chris. If things go the way I think they should, it’s time for Chris to exit stage right. Or left. Either way, really.
Before anyone else leaves, though, Bon Jovi performs for the “Idol” audience. After, yet, another commercial break, friends Blake and Chris are in the center of the stage.
And …
“Chris, you’re going home, buddy,” Ryan said after a little hesitation.

Chris Richardson was voted from the show after his performance during rock week with Bon Jovi.
Well, America, I have to say you got this one right. Honestly, now is the time to get serious about choosing the best and, without a doubt, the best four finalists are left. So, who’s next to go? Personally, I think it may be LaKisha. Then, again, you never know.
American Idol, Bon Jovi, Phil Stacey, Chris Richardson, Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones, Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, Ryan Seacrest

I may need therapy. Phil is gone. I have never shed a tear over Idol-that is until tonight. AMAZING!

Therapy, really? You had to have seen that one coming, Stacy. Now dry those tears.

The name, Phil Stacey, says it all. I will be calling my therapist, Reed, tomorrow. I know he will bring me back to reality! HA!

Okay! I have regrouped and pulled myself together for the sake of everyone involved. So my thoughts are that Reed is right and Lakeisha is next to go. I think that Jordin will be third, Blake will be second and Melinda is the winner. Stacy OUT!

I gotta say, I know how you feel, Stacy! That isn’t even in my name anywhere, but I’m still gonna miss Phil. I know he wasn’t the best singer, but there was something I liked about him. One of my favorite parts of last night was the first glimpse I’ve had of Taylor Hicks, since the concert I went to in March!

Well……The rest of the story is that my husbands name is Phil. So the name itself meant alot on top of the fact that I liked him.
