Elliott gets in the holiday spirit
It may only be October, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get in the holiday spirit with some Christmas music.
“American Idol” Season 5 finalist Elliott Yamin is one of three artists releasing an “NBC Sounds of the Season” album. Yamin, who happens to be Jewish, is releasing the disc Oct. 14 exclusively at Target through Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s Hickory Records.
“NBC Sounds of the Season: The Elliott Yamin Holiday Collection” is among three such discs being released. Other “Sounds of the Season” collections will feature country singer Taylor Swift and KT Tunstall, who was covered in one of the best performances by Season 5 runner-up and recently engaged Katharine McPhee.
All of the CDs will have new holiday songs mixed with classics. Among the songs included on Yamin’s CD are “This Christmas, “Little Drummer Boy,” Merry Christmas, Baby,” “The Christmas Song” and “Jingle Bells.” The singer also recorded original songs “A Very Merry Christmas,” “Let’s Be Naughty” and “Warm Me Up” for the project.
This is the fifth year NBC has teamed up with Target for the “Sounds of the Season” collections.
Yamin, who reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year, has sold 500,000 copies of his self-titled debut. The “Idol” Season 5 third-place finisher also recently announced extended fall and winter tour dates behind the release of his second single, “One Word.”
Aside from Yamin, Kimberley Locke also recently announced she would release a series of holiday classics exclusively as a digital download package. The collection, titled “Christmas,” will be available Nov. 6 It includes tracks such as “Frosty the Snowman,” “Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Away in a Manger.”
