Ellen hosting ‘Idol Gives Back’

Ellen DeGeneres joins the band during the Oscars. The daytime host will be in primetime Wednesday for “Idol Gives Back.”

After a successful job hosting at the Oscars, daytime favorite Ellen DeGeneres is taking on primetime, again.

DeGeneres is hosting Wednesday’s live two-hour “Idol Gives Back” special at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Ryan Seacrest still will host the elimination portion of the show from the regular “Idol” stage. This week’s theme is life anthems.

Season 1 “Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson is among the list of stars appearing on the Wednesday special. Celine Dion, Pink and a long list of others also are scheduled to appear.
