Down to 8: Gina Glocksen goes home

Gina Glocksen performs during Tuesday night’s competition. The resident rocker chick — and her tongue ring — have seen the end of the road on “Idol” after one of the contestant’s best weeks.
At the beginning of the show, they’re all smiles. It makes you wonder what they’re thinking.
There have to be nerves. There has to be excitement. Someone is going home. The field will be narrowed from nine to eight. So, let’s get to it.
The nine contestants were divided into groups of three — and one of those groups includes Phil Stacey, Gina Glocksen and Haley Scarnato. This group includes my predicted bottom three. So, was I right?
Of course, another group included the power girls — Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones and Jordin Sparks. They’re the first to find out they’re safe.
Also safe are the middle three — Sanjaya Malakar (ugh), Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis — which means my prediction was right.

Canadian crooner Michael Bublé stood in for Tony Bennett as the performer tonight on “Idol.” Bublé is seen here performing at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night XIII on March 24.
Tony Bennett was supposed to perform tonight, but he came down with the flu. Instead, we get a real treat — crooner Michael Bublé. If the “Idol” finalists want to know how to make a career of singing standards, this is their man.
Now, back to the eliminations. One of the bottom three is getting sent back to safety. And that person is Phil Stacey.
So, who will it be? If it’s Haley, I’m feeling good about my predictions. And … the person going home tonight … after almost 33 million votes … actually is Gina Glocksen.
America definitely got this one wrong. I’m not sure what to think of the show right now. What about you?
Coming tomorrow: Why Gina went home.
Michael Buble, Gina Glocksen, Phil Stacey, American Idol, Tony Bennett, Sanjaya Malakar, Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, Chris Richardson, LaKisha Jones, Melinda Doolittle

I don’t know what to think either. I am at a total loss for words. She was actually starting to become one of my favs. Okay! I am officially off to vomit. STACY OUT!

I only know what’s going on because of you Reed. I refuse to watch. This season is just disappointing me. (and if Sanjaya goes home I might go back to watching but not before)

Haley should’ve gone, not Gina. I say that as if Sanjaya wasn’t an option, and, at this point, was he really? What do I think of this show? Grrr…
