Down to 11: Brandon Rogers goes home
This week was all about Diana Ross. Even a group performance started off the night to honor the diva who gave all the contestants advice during the first week of Season 6 finals.
In the first 30-minute episode of the season, the 12 finalists “honored” Ross by singing one of their famous group numbers to show their appreciation. But I won’t talk about that. On to the bottom three.
“Make some noise for this top 12 one last time,” Ryan said before announcing the bottom three.
Up first was LaKisha, as if there was a question. Then Gina. Also safe.

Brandon Rogers
Brandon Rogers, who sang “You Can’t Hurry Love” this week, was the first to be in the bottom three.
Jordin Sparks? Safe. Chris Richardson? Also safe. Then there was Melinda Doolittle. Not surprisingly, also safe.

Phil Stacey
Phil Stacey? Joins Brandon in the bottom three.
Chris Sligh was up next. And he’s safe. Then Stephanie Edwards. Another safe. Blake Lewis? Still in it.
So, it’s down to Sanjaya Malakar and Haley Scarnato to fill out the third spot.

Sanjaya Malakar, thankfully, was voted into the bottom three. Maybe this means he soon will be leaving the show.
And Phil Stacey is sent back to safety. Nearly 28 million votes were cast, and America keeps Sanjaya around for, yet, one more week. That means Brandon Rogers is the first finalist to leave the show. If you haven’t figured it out, I think that’s a big mistake.
“I have no hard feelings,” Brandon said. “I kind of expected it.”
I have to admit I didn’t think this would be Sanjaya’s week to go. I think he has a group of fans who feel sorry for him. The one thing I am happy about is the fact Haley was given that second chance. I was feeling guilty for trying to get her voted off earlier, so I hope it was my eight votes last night that helped keep her going strong.
What do you think? Who should have been sent home? Were the right three finalists in the bottom three?
American Idol, Sanjaya Malakar, Phil Stacey, Brandon Rogers, Diana Ross, Chris Sligh, LaKisha Jones, Melinda Doolittle, Chris Richardson, Blake Lewis, Stephanie Edwards, Gina Glocksen, Jordin Sparks, Haley Scarnato

LOL. This show is funny.
I had a feeling Sanjaya wasn’t going home. Those teeny bopping kids must have liked his hair.

Sad to see Brandon go. Until Sanjaya goes, it will always be the wrong person that gets voted off.

I cannot stand Sanjaya!! Who is voting for this kid?? I felt sorry for Haley, too, but I think there are much better singers than her. As I was watching her last night perform with the group, I thought she’d be good for Broadway or something like that. I am ready for Sanjaya to go, though. Enough’s enough!

I wasn’t that suprised that Sanjaya survived again, but I feel sorry for him at this point. He knows he sucks. That must be so embarrassing. I’m ready to throttle the morons who are voting for him. I can’t imagine voting for him after his horrific performance this week.
I actually thought Chris Sligh should have been in the bottom 3 this week. I thought he did really bad.
How the heck did Phil end up in the bottom three? He did a good job.
