Down to 10: Stephanie Edwards goes home

Stephanie Edwards shows joy after making it through last week. This week, she was eliminated from the show in another shocker.
Making the top 10 is important. Not only are you still in the running to become the next “American Idol,” but you also get booked on the summer tour. And that keeps your career going for a few months longer, which can be important for a lot of “Idol” castoffs who never make it past the Pop Tarts tour.
The first contestant to hear their fate (aside from actor Brad Garrett, who was on set in another Fox promotion) was Phil Stacey. And Melinda Doolittle. And Blake Lewis.
All three are safe, which is somewhat surprising. At least for Phil, who turned in another rough performance this week.
Chris Sligh. LaKisha Jones. Jordin Sparks. These three also are safe.
Sanjaya Malakar. Haley Scarnato. Gina Glocksen. Also not the bottom three, which is ridiculous. I think many of the show’s fans would have thought these three would be in the bottom three.
The final two contestants left in the competition, Chris Richardson and Stephanie Edwards, are the last to be called by Ryan Seacrest. One will go, Seacrest announces.
I’m not sure what to think. I can’t figure out how in the world Sanjaya is staying alive in this competition. I know only one, that’s right, ONE, person who likes him. Well, two if you count Ashley, the little girl who cried her eyes out last night.
And the second finalist to go? Stephanie Edwards.
“This is what I want to spend my life doing, until I’m old and gray,” Stephanie was quoted as saying during the clip compilation that showcased her “Idol” journey.
A teary-eyed Stephanie said, “thank you” as the credits rolled. And I officially am annoyed by Sanjaya’s ability to stay in this thing. Do people really want to hear him sing? Obviously I’m missing it.
Stephanie had a great week, and still she was eliminated. Tonight’s results are proof you not only need to vote for your favorites, but you need to makes a few calls for several of your favorites. If you don’t vote for your favorite three or four contestants, this type of thing will continue to happen. It’s part of the reason we saw early departures for contestants including Jennifer Hudson, George Huff and even Kimberly Caldwell.
Seriously, folks, how long is Sanjaya going to hang on here?

I don’t watch anymore… now I just have google reader deliver a feed of your blog into my inbox. Perhaps when this ridiculously competition gets back on it’s feet I’ll pick it up again, but at the moment it’s a freaking joke.

Unreal!!! But if she works everything out right, Stephanie can have a record out by the time the show is over. I wish her good luck, although she really doesn’t need it.

We can all thank Howard Stern and the web site “Vote for the Worst”.
Why do people get a kick out of ruining good things?

Okay. Now I’m irritated. Stephanie and Chris were in my top 5. And both were in the bottom two last night? SERIOUSLY? I missed last night’s episode because I was traveling, but I’m so shocked and angry I’m glad I missed it.

I’m with Bob. Sanjaya has those 2 backing him up. It’s not really his fault. I actually feel sorry for him. He’s handling all this voiting fiasco well. I bet he wants to be voted off too so he doesn’t have to face angry mob for staying in the show…lol.
