Former ‘Idol’ finalists to help find new star
Friday, May 8th, 2009
Diana DeGarmo and Kimberley Locke will be on the panel of judges to help discover a new star for GetScouted.com, an online marketplace for talent and scouts.
The 60 Seconds of Fame talent search is a national competition where singers, dancers and musicians can register today through May 18 for a chance to win the starring role in the site’s upcoming commercial. U.S. residents age 13 and older can enter by uploading a 60-second clip at www.GetScouted.com.
Five finalists will be chosen by GetScouted.com and flown to New York City on June 8 to compete in front of Kimberley and Diana at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. Other judges include Bailey Hanks, winner of MTV’s Legally Blonde, Search For The Next Elle Woods and an executive from Sh-K-Boom Records, which records Broadway cast albums.
“I know first-hand how difficult it is to get in front of the right people when you’re just starting out,” DeGarmo said in a release from GetScouted.com. “Not everyone has the opportunity to land a record deal on a live television talent show. That is what makes GetScouted.com so great because it provides aspiring talent with a clear path to scouts who can help them make their dreams come true.”
Contest winners will have a chance to meet privately with Diana and Broadway executive director and producer Richard Jay-Alexander. Aside from the commercial appearance, the grand-prize winner also will be the namesake of a $25,000 donation made by GetScouted.com to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization to support the Actors’ Work Program of the Actors’ Fund.
