Carrie Underwood invited to join Grand Ole Opry

Carrie Underwood is surprised by Randy Travis at Saturday’s Opry Live on GAC. The birthday surprise included an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry.
She’s probably the most successful winner in American Idol history, and now Carrie Underwood is being bestowed with one of the biggest honors in country music — membership into the Grand Ole Opry.
Underwood, the winner of Idol’s fourth season, was invited Saturday by member Randy Travis. On her most recent CD, Carnival Ride, Underwood included a cover of the Randy Travis hit I Told You So.
The singer made her Grand Ole Opry debut June 10, 2005, only two weeks after winning the Idol title. May 10 is when Underwood is scheduled to be inducted into the Opry.
