Bigger in Texas?

Season 7 of “American Idol” could feature another Texas winner, especially considering the auditions continued today outside of Texas Stadium in the Dallas area.

After 12,000 people turned out for the first auditions last week in San Diego, thousands more hoping to be the next Kelly Clarkson gathered in the Lone Star State for their 15-second audition in front of casting producers.

Contestants advancing today still have to audition in front of show executives before passing to the round where they face Simon, Paula and Randy.

The coming weeks also will have hopefuls gathering by the thousands in Omaha, Neb.; Atlanta; Charleston, S.C.; Miami and Philadelphia. The show returns to the air in January.
