Anwar Robinson taking ‘Rent’ on the road

Anwar Robinson is the next “American Idol” alumni to take the leap to the Broadway stage. Robinson will play Tom Collins in the upcoming non-Equity tour of “Rent.”

The tour kicks off Oct. 15 in York, Penn., and it continues with stops across the country for the next six months. Robinson won’t be the only “Idol” finalist on the show. In fact, he’ll be joined by a winner — “South African Idol” winner Heinz Winckler, who will star as Roger.
